We know that, probably, many people will have something to say agaist this interview, as Mors Summa, as most of you knows, is the Imperator Noctis' band. But actually, we see nothing against introducing the Mors Summa music on the 'zine where Imperator Noctis writes. So, here is the interview with this very fast and extreme underground Black Metal act from Italy. (RS)
Hail Imperator Noctis, how is going lately with Mors Summa?
As usual, there is not much new going on lately... I am working on new material, and there is also to say that in a very short time (Less then a month, I hope), the long awaited split tape with Noctifer will see the daylight.
The last Mors Summa release was a promo cd you recorded in July , could you introduced us to it ? I also noticed that in most of the titles songs you used the word "Dies" , what concept did you want express with that ?
The Promo Cd is so far the last Mors Summa release available to public. It features eight songs, for about 50 minutes of extremely fast and dark black metal, with definetely sick vocals. Actually I am rather sotisfied by this release, nevertheless I think that vocals could have been recorded a little better. The Anthems of this release are to express the death of modern society's values. This material will also be out in very limited cassette version, with pro-printed coloured covers, meaningfully titled "Mors Summa". It will be the first release of mine and Regulus' Iperborea Productions.
Do you think that Mors Summa is a concept that you must live alone or you are still open to recruit new members ?
Probably on the next release Regulus from Noctifer will take over the drumming parts, if he will physically be able to play so fast as it is needed to play with Mors Summa. However, even if I could seek for new members, be sure that all the music and the lyrics will always be composed totally by myself.
One of the main aspects of Mors Summa is using a very fast drum machine in almost all the songs, don't you think that listening always the same groove could be boring for the people who listens to your albums ?
I don't care much of what people thinks, and however I think that almost everyone into extreme Black Metal likes this kind of drumming.
The first demo and the last promo cd propose always the same kind of music , so we can expect that the third release will be also in that way or you'll try to bring something new in your sound?
Well, I have some few new songs ready, and they don't differ much from what I previously did. Always Pure Black Metal.
Beside Mors Summa you have also another one man project called Ars Occulta where you purpose quite different music. Both of the bands follow the same concept or they are going in opposite directions?
Ars Occulta and Mors Summa are obliviously two faces of the same concept. Ars Occulta stands for the more constructive and positive part of it, while Mors Summa for its more hateful and dark part. Mors Summa is the catharsis wich must accure in Men's mind before of the trascendence of its being.
Lately you are creating together with memeber of Interitus and Noctifier, even another band called "Gladio", and it is a very exsplicit NF band, could you introduce us to this new band ? And what does it mean for you the word NF? Do you think that an ideology like this could back in Italy with all the power as it has in the past? Or that it could be back but in different way ?
Well, this project was created by myself and Augustus from Interitus at the end of October 2754 auc [NOTA: "auc" é un'abbreviazione per "ab urbe condita" e si riferisce alla nascita dell'impero romano. Il 2025 dc sarebbe quindi il 2778 auc.]. We decided to play Black Metal sung in italian with NF lyrics. So far the line-up is composed by myself (guitar and keyboard), Augustus (bass), Regulus (drums), Lictorius (vocals) and another guitarist who helps me by creating the music, to avoid that it will be too close to Mors Summa. Lyrics will be written by Augustus. About what is NF, there are quite different views in the band itself. Augustus in example is more a nostalgic, while I am more influenced by more modern variations of this doctrine.
Don't you think that there are a lot of bands who never used in the past NS ideology in their music and now they are starting to do it? Do you think that soon it could be a real trend to be a NS band? And anyway what are in your opinion about the true bands who really are into this ideology ? I think that the NS trend nowdays is gone for its most. However I am not NS, nevertheless I support it, so this don't regard me much. I love many NS bands like Galgenberg, Gontyna Kry, Thunderbolt, Swastyka, Abyssic Hate and many more.
Mors Summa never played on the stage, it's because you have problems to find session musicians who can help you , or never had the possibility or maybe it's just your choice? Mors Summa will by my will never play live. Playing live in my opinion doesn't belong to the true Black Metal concept... when you listen to something at your place you are in a reflective mood, and you are more careful about the music, the lyrics and their meaning, while usually people going to a BM gig goes there just because they want to have fun and they can hear some loud music. This does'nt intrest me at all.
Regulus from Noctifer in the last interview told me that the split tape with Mors Summa "United by Roman Pride" will be out. Did you finally find a label who is interested to produced it ?
This split tape will be released in a short time by Ancient Nation Records from Ukraine [NOTA: se si parla della band in questo link, sembrerebbe che la produzione in questione non abbia mai visto la luce. Purtroppo l'intervista in questione, rilasciata per Empire of Hate webzine non é piú online.]. There is no need to say that we are rather happy of seeing it finally out.
What are the old bands that influenced you ?
Bathory (Of "Under the sign..." times), DarkThrone (From "Ablaze..." to "Panzerfaust"), ealy Burzum, early Beherit and Bestial Warlust are the main influences in Mors Summa, nevertheless I listen to a big number of undergroud bands, both old and new, and surely everything I listen to has a little influence on me.
Where do you think is the best black metal scene right now ?
I don't like to make geographic classifications... however I must admit that the most of the intresting bands I've heard in the last year comes from Poland. I expecially like Gontyna Kry, Galgenberg and Thunderbolt... these tree bands kicks ass, nevertheless there is to say that I still have to hear the newest LP from Thunderbolt horde.
You are a proud italian, but people who really care about their culture and history are going to be always decreasing in Italy, like also in all the globe. How you can explain that culture decandence? And what do you think should happened to solve that situation?
Italy is an ex fascist country and so it is forced by american propaganda to reject its past. Even the slighter sign of national pride is seen by everyone as something wrong and to reject. They all see to NF as something horrible and they don't even realise that in the present "free and enlighted" liberaldemocratic, philo-american society there is not freedom at all for everyone who goes against the system. They behaves exactly like what they criticise. I think that the main reason of the cultural decadence accouring all over the world in the strong american influence in every nation. Fight globalization and capitalism! To my eyes the only way to save our world is a full scale, world wide revolution.
Do you have some new songs for the new album? And if yes, in what period you think it'll be out?
I have four songs ready for the next release, but I don't know when it will be out. Not in the next few months, anyway.
The interview finish here, if you want you can use this last place for tell us what Imperator Noctis is going to do in the near future!
What I've always been doing... all Our job is for fighting the judeo-christian plague. Feel the fire in your blood of old!
